Privacy Policy

Pixelberry ("we," "our," or "the Company") is committed to protecting your personal information in connection with the operation of the PoopieMate service ("Service"). We comply with applicable privacy laws and regulations.

1. Information We Collect

The following information may be collected when you use the Service:

  • Social login information — Email address, user ID, display name, and profile photo from your Google, Apple, or Kakao account (limited to what is provided at the time of login)
  • Pet information — Your dog's name, photo, size, age, body condition, coat type, and health information
  • Potty records — Timestamps and status of poop and pee logs, and walk records
  • Location information — Current location coordinates and neighborhood name for walk weather checks, weather-based alerts, and showing where potty and walk records happened (only if you grant permission)
  • Device or app identifiers — Device or app identifiers such as Expo Push Tokens for push notifications
  • App usage data — App usage events such as screen views, button taps, and time spent, along with device model, operating system, and app version
  • Service settings — Language, notification settings, preferred walk windows, potty goals, and other app settings

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide potty and walk tracking and family-sharing features
  • To retrieve weather data for walk safety assessments
  • To send personalized push notifications for potty timing and walk schedules
  • To create accounts, authenticate users, manage family invitations, and provide account management
  • To tag potty and walk records with a place (neighborhood name) shared with your family
  • To analyze usage statistics and improve features
  • To improve service quality, respond to errors, prevent misuse, and comply with legal obligations

3. Retention Period

We retain personal information until you delete your account or submit a deletion request. When account deletion is completed, we delete the account and related data from our service database.

However, information required by applicable law, minimal information needed for dispute handling, and customer support records may be retained for the necessary period and then deleted. Information that remains temporarily in backups or system logs is access-restricted and deleted or anonymized within 30 days.

4. Sharing with Third Parties

We do not share your personal information with third parties, except in the following circumstances:

  • When you have given prior consent
  • When required by law or requested by a law enforcement authority

5. Service Providers and External Services

We use the following service providers or external services to operate the Service:

  • Supabase Inc. — Database and authentication services
  • Expo (Expo Go / EAS) — App builds and push notifications
  • Google LLC — Firebase Cloud Messaging (push notifications)
  • Google LLC, Apple Inc., Kakao Corp. — Social login authentication
  • Open-Meteo — Weather and air quality lookup based on location coordinates
  • Apple Inc., Google LLC — Converting location coordinates to a neighborhood name (the device operating system's geocoding)
  • PostHog Inc. — App usage analytics (user identifier and app usage events)

6. International Data Transfers

To perform our contract with you and provide the Service, we entrust the processing and storage of personal information to the following providers outside Korea (Article 28-8(1)(3) of the Korean Personal Information Protection Act). Data is encrypted in transit over the network when you use the Service.

  • Supabase Inc. (privacy@supabase.com) — Country: Singapore / Data: account information, pet information and photos, potty and walk records with location, family connections, notification settings, push notification tokens / Purpose: database storage and authentication / Retention: until account deletion
  • PostHog Inc. (privacy@posthog.com) — Country: United States / Data: user identifier, app usage events, device model, OS, app version, IP address / Purpose: app usage analytics / Retention: until account deletion or up to 7 years after collection, whichever comes first
  • 650 Industries, Inc. (Expo) (expo.dev/contact) — Country: United States / Data: push notification tokens, notification content / Purpose: sending push notifications / Retention: deleted promptly after delivery (except logs kept under the provider's policy)
  • Google LLC (Firebase Cloud Messaging) — Country: United States / Data: push notification tokens, notification content / Purpose: sending Android push notifications / Retention: deleted promptly after delivery (except logs kept under the provider's policy)
  • OpenMeteo GmbH (info@open-meteo.com) — Country: Switzerland / Data: location coordinates, IP address (not linked to your account) / Purpose: weather and air quality lookup / Retention: server logs for 90 days

You can refuse these transfers by deleting your account or emailing jin@pixelberry.io. Refusing the transfer to Supabase means you cannot use the Service, including saving records and family sharing. If you do not grant location permission, no location is sent to Open-Meteo. You can opt out of usage analytics (PostHog) at any time by turning off "Share usage data" in My → Account Settings, and doing so does not affect your use of the Service.

7. Your Rights & Account Deletion

You may exercise the following rights at any time:

  • Request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information
  • Request restriction of processing of your personal information
  • Request deletion of your account and related data
  • Request deletion or correction of some data without deleting your account

8. Account and Data Deletion

You can delete your PoopieMate account and related data using the following methods:

  • In-app deletion — Open the app → My → Account Settings → Delete Account → Confirm
  • Email request — If you cannot use the app, you can request account deletion by emailing jin@pixelberry.io.

When you delete your account, we delete service data including your service profile connected to your social login account, pet information and photos, poop, pee, and walk records, family connections and invitations, notification settings, location coordinates, walk safety profile, push notification tokens, and notification history.

Information required by law, minimal information needed for dispute handling, and customer support records may be retained for the necessary period. Information that remains in backups or system logs is deleted or anonymized within 30 days.

If you want to delete only some data without deleting your account, you can delete individual poop, pee, and walk records in the Records screen, or contact jin@pixelberry.io for additional deletion or correction requests.

9. Location Information

Location information is used to check walk weather, calculate walk safety, provide weather-based alerts, and show where potty and walk records happened. If you grant location permission, your current location coordinates may be sent to a weather lookup API and may be stored in our service database to provide server-based alerts. When you log a potty break or walk for the current time, the location coordinates and neighborhood name are saved with that record, and family members caring for the same dog can see the neighborhood name on the record. Location is only checked while you are using the app and is never collected in the background. You can still use core features such as potty logging and family sharing without granting location permission.

10. Additional Information for Users in the United Kingdom, the European Union and the EEA

If you are in the United Kingdom, the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 apply. If you are in the European Union or the European Economic Area, the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) applies. In both cases, Pixelberry (Republic of Korea, jin@pixelberry.io) is the controller of your personal information.

Legal bases

  • Contract — creating your account, saving potty and walk records, family sharing, push notifications, and weather features
  • Consent — location, which you grant through your device's permission prompt and can withdraw at any time in your device settings
  • Legitimate interests — usage analytics to understand and improve the app, and keeping the Service secure. You can object to analytics at any time by turning off "Share usage data" in My → Account Settings.

International transfers — Your information is processed outside the UK, the EU and the EEA as described in Section 6 (Republic of Korea, Singapore, United States, Switzerland). The Republic of Korea and Switzerland are covered by UK adequacy regulations and by European Commission adequacy decisions. For other countries we rely on appropriate safeguards offered by our providers: for UK users, the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework; for EU and EEA users, the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

Your rights — You have the right to access, rectify, or erase your personal information, to restrict or object to its processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. We do not make decisions based solely on automated processing that have legal or similarly significant effects on you. To exercise your rights, contact jin@pixelberry.io.

Complaints — You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. In the United Kingdom, this is the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO): ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, 0303 123 1113. In the EU or EEA, you can contact the supervisory authority in the country where you live, work or where the alleged infringement took place: list of EU and EEA supervisory authorities.
